Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a special live event with John Vervaeke on Tuesday, 22 February in London. This is one of John’s first live events in Europe and will be hosted in a relaxed, intimate venue (Ninety One Living Room on Brick Lane). We’ll be filming it and uploading it as an exclusive film for subscribers as well. Expect an evening of big ideas, new insights and dialogos - tickets are available here.
John Vervaeke came to public attention with ‘Awakening from the Meaning Crisis’, an epic 50 hour YouTube series. A professor of cognitive science at the university of Toronto, Vervaeke used the series to explore the philosophical roots underlying the crisis of the times, arguing that a new understanding of the cognitive science of wisdom offers us a way forward.
His research acts as a bridge between Western philosophy, Eastern wisdom practices, cognitive science and cultural commentary. In an age where we can’t agree on truth, feel alienated from the world and have too much knowledge but not enough wisdom, Vervaeke is on a mission to build a framework for how we might ‘steal back the culture’ from its ruinous trajectory. John is also a facilitator on our online course Sensemaking 101 which starts again next week.
This will be a relatively small ‘salon’ style event with maximum 80 participants. As well as hearing John talk, you’ll also have the opportunity to connect with others and practice dialogos - a conversational technique that helps us inquire more deeply into complex ideas. We’ll host a Q&A and there’ll be plenty of time to socialise afterwards.
We’re looking forward to seeing some of you in person again - one Rebel Wisdom subscriber is actually flying coming over from the US for our Men’s Weekend and staying for this, so it’ll be an international gathering of sorts.
We expect the event to sell out fast, so book soon if you’d like to come. If you aren’t in the UK but would like to check it out, you can access it by becoming a member.
