Alex - as someone who regularly watched Rebel Wisdom, this is well done.
I have taken up essay writing and have written several times on the meta-crisis, the poly-crisis. The documentary is a powerful way to attempt to communicate what it is and the challenges of addressing it.
Moloch, the Machine, the Superorganism, Leviathan - these are all attempts at naming this larger system.
In the most recent essay I wrote on this, Andrew Kimbrell's labeling of it was "Cold Evil." He and others - e.g. Daniel Schmachtenberger, a regular on Rebel Wisdom missing here, discuss how the Narrative of Progress is a key secular belief driving the Leviathan forward within this period of the Technosphere. As Kimbrell says, it mimicks the religious trinity with a secular one.
“Science (the father) will let us know anything,
- Technology (the son) will let us do anything,
- The market (the holy spirit) will let us buy anything.”
This is driven forward through the Cult of Objectivity, the Cult of Efficiency, and the Cult of Competition.
I will reference this documentary and share it with others. Thanks for making it.
Right on the mark, Alex...and the concluding morphing of the Leviathan's Blackness into...The Great Flower of Being...reminds me of a psychedelic breakthrough experience last year. Embodiment at the most fundamentals levels...energising, harmonising...humanising. Be well, brother.
For the dynamics between men and women, Anne Baring is brilliant about the causal level for being in our power-over world:
Really really really how we got into this mess
We need a different conception of God

And Castlemaine. You forgot Castlemaine. Sunday 22nd at the Northern Arts Hotel 2pm.
Sorry Peter we didn’t have that on our list - will add it in now - do you have the latest cut?
I do not. Cutting it fine!
I’ll send it now - people have been getting cuts two hours before their screenings so this is a luxury 😅
Hey Aly, I'm trying to sort out a screening at our gathering space near Seattle. Who should I email?
Thanks! Please use this form https://forms.gle/oYArWGH8GMpXRNee8
Excited to see this, how do we apply to host a screening?
Has there been an update for the Dublin screening?
Alex, your next project about men and women sounds great. I'm already a subscriber, but I'd like to make a one- time contribution toward that project.
What's the best way to do that?
